They will come to you on foot and the backs of swift camels from every distant quarter; they will come to avail themselves of many benefits to pronounce on the appointed days the name of Allah over the cattle, which He has given the; for food''. ''Eat of their flesh, and feed the poor and the unfortunate ''. ''Their flesh and blood does not reach Allah; it is your piety that reaches him.
OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT
The Saudi Project for Utilization of Hajj Meat, which is managed by the Islamic Development Bank, is performing a pioneering role. It aims at achieving the following objectives:
1- Utilization of the meat of Hajj Meat animals by distributing it among the poor in Makkah and exporting excess quantities to the Muslim poor around the world in realization of Muslim solidarity.
2- Ensuring fulfillment of religious and health requirements in the animals slaughtered and the meat distributed.
3- Undertake administrative, financial and technical procedures that would ensure utilization of Hajj meat, through a series of operations that include packaging, chilling, freezing, storage and transportation in order to keep this sacrificial meet fit for human consumption until it is reaches the hands of eligible beneficiaries.
4- Expand the base of beneficiaries of the Project in Makkah and other parts of the Muslim World for the realization of greater solidarity.
5- Contribute to environmental protection by not wasting the meat of slaughtered animal and secure full utilization of such meat.
6- Gradual utilization of offal's and their distribution among the poor in Makkah.
With the grace of Allah the Project has, since its inception, realized the great benefits desired. Hajj meat has been distributed among the poor around the Holy Haram in Makkah and the charitable organizations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Excess sacrificial meat has been transported and distributed to many Muslim countries.
