The National Commercial Bank (NCB) has always played an important role in the economic and social life of the Kingdom throughout its course of benevolent operation over a period of more than five decades, during which the Bank has placed all its recourses and capabilities in the service of the country and its citizens.
The Bank's activities have expanded from the economic activity and related services to include many other areas, in order to contribute through an effective leading role in serving the Saudi society. This effective role stems out of the Bank's understanding of its multiple responsibilities towards all the segments of the community, and based on NCB's vision which places the development of the country and addressing its issues in the forefront of its priorities. It is also derived from the inherent belief of Islam which reflects the most splendor forms of social solidarity.
NCB's vision in the area of social service is also based on the need for interaction and cooperation between the government sector and the private sector, in addition to cooperation with and charitable and social associations and institutions and providing support thereto. Such interaction ultimately serves the interests of the society. Therefore, NCB always endeavored to develop partnerships and coordinate with many institutions which are aware of their role and duty in the area of social corporate responsibility, whether they are civil or government entities.
Being a leading economic edifice, NCB's interest and focus are not limited to only making profit, but they also extend to caring for the environmental, economic and social development of the community. Further, this social responsibility is not limited to today's society, but its services also extend to take into account future generations on the long term. These generations are receiving their due share of care and attention through the concept of sustainable development, which focuses on the development that satisfies the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This concept received special attention by the Bank. The accession of NCB to the Arab Leaders Council for Sustainable Development came as an emphasis of this approach. It was also emphasized through the initiative to issue the GRI Report on sustainable development according to international standards, which require disclosure and transparency in all matters relating to the strategy and activities of a corporate in all areas.
In order for the Bank to play its role in serving the society in the most effective manner, NCB developed special programs designed in accordance with well-examined mechanisms to meet the needs of the society, and then it allocated the budgets approved by such programs as adequate to the needs of each sector. Therefore, NCB adopts a scientific methodology and organized an institutional form to meet this commitment. To this end, the Bank depends on a national working group of professionals directly supervised by the senior leadership of the Bank. As such, NCB has become a model and beacon for all economic institutions, and has laid the methodological foundation which all parties can make use of if they want to follow the steps of NCB in this area.
